Jesus came from Galilee and was baptised in the Jordan by John. No sooner had He come up out of the water than he saw the heavens torn apart and the Spirit, like a dove , descending on Him. And a voice came from Heaven,
"You are My Son, My Beloved, My Favour rests on You
Luke 3:21-22

The Incarnate Word was in all things identified with humanity and subject to all that humanity experiences and is involved in - all save sin. And those lights which were sent by the Father to lighten the path of the faithfully committed in His day and place illumined Him, and He was subject to the leads and disciplines . So He was baptised in the Jordan by John. The Holy Spirit descended upon Him and the full assurance of His divine Sonship completed the period of His preparation for ministry and for His redemptive offering.

The identity and saving work of the Incarnate Word is unique, cosmic and world-transforming. But the pattern of preparation, living, ministering in love for others close and unfamiliar through the strength and power which flows from Him and the Holy Spirit - such is for all the children of the Father the world over.

This is the Epiphany which My Church celebrates throughout the world today. I come to every single one of the Father's beloved children the world over: I offer My redeeming love, I provide a pattern of life and living and I challenge each and every one to find their particular and peculiar identity in the glorious plan of the loving Heavenly Father for time and eternity.
