The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for what they had heard and seen: it had happened as they had been told
Luke 2:20

See the faithfulness of the simple shepherds to the truth revealed to them, and their trust in all things. Theirs not to worry about the safety of their sheep when they had been summoned by God to pay homage to their Infant Saviour.

Any doubt which may have visited the eager shepherds on their way was dispelled by the sign which proved the reality of their vision: a baby in a manger was a thing not to be imagined. Yet thus they found it. And ever since the sons of The Incarnate Word have marvelled that the majesty and glory of the Godhead became man in circumstances which were humbler than the meanest on earth,

And the humble circumstances of birth were matched by the squalor and horror of those of My death. All was for love of the Father's beloved children. For them I came and lived and died. Through My death they may live. In My risen life they rejoice for ever in the Presence of the Father
