St. Augustine of Hippo
Jesus said to His Disciples. "…. The greatest among you must be your servant. Anyone who exalts himself will be humbled and anyone who humbles himself will be exalted."
Matthew 23:12

Pride is a barrier to the loving, purposeful activity of the Father in the world, and against selfishness and engaged self-interest Our love is frustrated. But the first sign of turning is love's opportunity: a reaching out for a better way all that is necessary in the first instance for the initiation of Our tryst. As soon as Our Presence is invited, even if only through expressed dissatisfaction with that which has prevailed, We enter. As light and life are accepted into the heart and mind, so does love increasingly make its home. And the frustrations of unproductive living give way to the hope and challenge of the way of love as the soul responds in humility and self-giving.

Life in love is progress and perfection, though the way is hard and challenging. Continually Our loving Holy Spirit enlightens and guides each one who seeks the way, and I am at the heart's centre to feed, sustain and comfort. So also the Father embraces all with such enfolding love that all is safe within His care.

And so the giving and receiving of love and the offering of the whole self is total self-giving is the way to becoming and to possessing the totality of all things in and through Our saving love.
