Jesus said, "Sleep on and take your rest."
Matthew 27:45

So I spoke to My beloved disciples the night before My trial and death on the Cross. They had been with Me in mind and spirit as I shared with them the eucharistic meal which prefigured My union with all My followers down the ages in the walking and the talking on the road to Gethsemane , and in the pristine hours of My agony in that garden. They were weary and emotionally drained, humanly tired, and they slept the desperate sleep of the exhausted.

And such sleep is a benefit , a gift from a loving Father who draws down for a brief period the shutters of earthly reality, giving rest for the body and mind.

But it is the will of the Father that sleep should bestow much greater and deeper blessings,, physical, mental and, above all, spiritual. Then powers of light over which I preside will enter and illuminate the mind which seeks sleep in an orientation of dedication. So will the mind be informed concerning the path to be followed in the future, and the understanding blessed by grace and light. The body will receive the rest of true repose, and the spirit will be deeply refreshed by that which will be poured into it through Our loving ministry.

And that this maybe so it is necessary but to prepare for sleep in a peaceful and dedicated way, abandoning every fibre of the being to the loving Heavenly Father who dynamically embraces and fills every living creature , drawing His children ever closer to the orbit of His loving purpose as He is given leave by them.
