Jesus said,
"Leave her alone; she had to
keep this scent for the day of My
burial. You have the poor with you
always, you will not always have Me."
John
12:8
The poor of the world are dear
to the heart of the Father. For
He has inspired prophet, priest
and king down the ages to challenge
into caring the people to whom they
ministered. And the Son of Man identified
in life and teaching and death with
the poor of the earth.
Yet there is a place for the costly
devotion of the heart's outpouring.
Herein may the Father be glorified,
the Son honoured, ant the beloved
child fulfilled through sacrificial
and joyous worship and self-giving.
And if such generous out-pouring
offend, let those to whom offence
is given look into their own heart
and life, examining the real cause
if their aggrievement. Let each
so offended foster the generous
impulse in himself, and consider
where Our Holy Spirit may be leading
him to exercise and develop it.
Single-mindedness devotion and
generous self-giving becomes the
brothers of the suffering Incarnate
Son. Let Mary's devotion be a joyful
inspiration to all the Father's
beloved children.
