Jesus said, "Watch and be on your guard against avarice of any kind, for a man's life is not made secure by that which he owns even when he has more than he needs"
Luke 12:13-15

Watch and be on your guard in all things, not anxious but alert and committed to that singleness of mind and purpose which alone progresses the children of light. For in such a state of watchful commitment Our Holy Spirit can impart that which is necessary and required.

In such a condition the watchful soul will be guarded against all that could endanger it. No evil could attack or take by surprise, though the occasional failure will always approach and often prevail so long as life lasts in this world of frailty.

Be on your guard, however, against over provision for the needs of the future. The future has no needs save the love and service of your Heavenly Father. In His service all is provided in abundance for work and service and for life itself.

Joy is the best defence against too much concern for the future and for overmuch provision for it. Joy with faith and trust and perpetual refreshment from the Fountain of Enduring love.
