Simon Peter
said, "I am going fishing".
His fellow Disciples said, "We
will go with you". They went
out and got into the boat but caught
nothing. But as the day was breaking
Jesus stood on the bank (unrecognised).
And He said to them, " Cast on
the right side of the boat".
So they cast and were not able to
haul it in for the quantity.
And John said, "It is the Lord."
John
21:3-7
Note the sequence of events in
the successful haul of fish. First
came the response to the initiative
- thought found in the mind of Simon
Peter, then the willing collaboration
in positive action of the others,
the quiet waiting upon the expectation,
the patient, disciplined watching
: in all these things I was present
, loving and leading. But with the
dawn came hope and action and obedience
in that which it was given to do..
Finally came success and recognition
of the truth and of My Presence
in the whole sequence and outcome
from beginning to end. So is it
always and has been since the beginning
of time. I am with the Father in
creation. I watch, I wait, I invite,
I indwell, I call to action and
I fill up what is lacking in perfecting
the individual and the work he is
given to do. So is it with community
throughout the whole world which
the Father has created for love
and joy and life with Him in time
and eternity. Search for the prompting,
children of the Father, and respond
to it with your heart and mind and
will. And know that I am with you
to lead, guide, restore, console,
and present you and your offering
to the Father at the last.
