St. Agnes, virgin and martyr (1258)
1 Corinthians 1:26-1. Matthew 13:26-31

Holiness becomes the children of the Father, sacrifice in all who follow in the steps of the Son of Man. Glorify the Father in all things and humbly respond to His will for you, thankfully receiving the power to do it as you continue faithful in the Way.

All things and all the beloved sons and daughters of the Most High are in His hands and ‘He seeks to make them His wisdom and His righteousness: in Him you are consecrated and set free’.

‘It seems to me that this child, holy beyond her years and courageous beyond human nature, received the name of Agnes (Greek : pure) not as an earthly designation but as a revelation from God of what she was to be (from St. Ambrose’s discourse on virginity (St.. Ambrose 340?-397).
