Jesus noticed a tax collector, Levi by name, sitting by the customs house, and said to him, "follow me". And leaving everything he got up and follower him
Luke 5:27

Only the word of the Father speaking to each and every one of His earthly children knows the response of each to the counsel of life and light and life and purpose which each one finds before him - a challenge of for departure and new orientation ; the choice is dependent on past reactions to lesser choices of like kind. The mind and heart are already poised for the right choice if the growth has been sustained along the way when a decision of major import is to be made. As with My first disciples so with Matthew. My words to Matthew were not a challenge but an invitation. Because he had cleared the earlier hurdle in his thinking and living the words to which he responded were but the ultimate point of departure for new enterprise. And The Incarnate Word who spoke them both knew and was known and recognised. Matthew had still much to learn and his understanding in depth had scarcely begun. But he had seen and known and reacted to all at each stage in faithfulness and so was ready for this new departure. And it is thus for each and every child of the Father who ever lived and those who will come into the world . Light and life are his birthrights and The Incarnate Word is the harbinger and the bestower of both, in the power of Our Holy Spirit, calling out loving response to the Heavenly Father and to all in the Father's wonderful world.
