St. Catherine of Siena (1347-1380)
1 John 1:5-2:2. Matthew 11:25-30. and John 15:12-17

Love is truth and power and glory: light reveals truth to all responding and glory to all reflecting the light and power of the Father in and through Our redeeming, sanctifying love.

‘Come to Me, all you who are weary and are carrying heavy burdens and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me; for I am gentle and humble in heart and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden light’ Matt. 11:28-30).

It is written ‘God is light and in Him there is no darkness at all ……..if we walk in the light as He himself is in the light we are in union with one another’.(1 John 1:5,7). This is My commandment, ‘Love one another as I have loved you……..and I have appointed you to go and bear fruit that will last, so that the Father will give you whatever you ask in My name. What I command you is to love one another. (John:15:12, 16-17).

‘Merit consists in the virtue of love flavoured with the light of true discretion without which the soul is worth nothing’. (from The Dialogue of St. Catherine of Siena).
