St. Peter
Claver (Priest, 1581-1654)
Jeremiah
1:4-9. Acts 26:19-27
You who are blest with so many
of life’s good things are
challenged by the Father’s’
Word and by the example of compassionate
love in others. Think on these things,
beloved of the Father and of Me,
and pray that the grace and power
of Our redeeming, sanctifying love
enter your heart and mind and orientate
your response according to the will
and living purpose of the Father
of one and all. Our loving Holy
Spirit empowers and leads and guides
all who, in faith and trust and
absolute self-giving, offer all
they have and all they are to the
Father’s dynamic loving purpose.
(As Peter Claver often said in
His dedicated life of active, compassionate
service, ‘We must speak to
them with our hands before we try
to speak to them with our lips’.
From Saints of the Day by Foley
and McCloskey page 236.)
