Jesus said to His Disciples, "Be compassionate as your father is compassionate"
Luke 6:36

To exercise compassion is to live in the light of Divine Love. And to exercise compassion it is necessary first to receive it, for no one can use a gift he does not possess. So all must earnestly desire and pray for the ability so to identify with the situation of another as to experience the sadness and deprivation suffered by that person. But to help that person out of the abyss of despair the person helping him must be anchored in the Source of hope and strength and resurrection. Where there is need the caring helper must give of his substance and of himself . For all that he has and is stems from that which he has received from the Father. He is under obligation to help those whom he is given to love and aid in their hour of need.

And as the obedient child of the Father succours his fellowmen in love, both near and far - as it is given him - so will he become oned with his Heavenly Father. His understanding will be deepened by the light of Our Holy Spirit, his capacity for loving increased by My indwelling . And by his life and witness to the Father's compassionate will and purpose others will be drawn into the orbit of the Father's love.
