Wednesday October 17th
St. Ignatius of Antioch
Jesus said to His Disciples, "I tell you most solemnly, unless a grain of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single grain: but if it dies, it yields a rich harvest."
John 12:24

This is the open secret of all life. Let every beloved child of the Father the world over in every age and place, in all faiths and persuasions, meditate on the meaning and significance of this truth. And as each one meditates deeply and frequently upon the fact and implications of it, let him desire to be shown its relevance for his life. Then let him ask his Heavenly Father to provide the means of faithfully fulfilling all that is required in activity and relationships.

As his life is orientated to this end so will Our Holy Spirit enlighten and guide. And I shall minister from the heart's centre, retrieving and restoring where there is failure or loss, consoling, encouraging, feeding, perfecting.

So it is for the group, the community, the religious society, the nation, the world. I tell you most solemnly, unless the leaders of the world look to the interests of the whole, the world cannot survive.
