St. Cyril of Jerusalem
1 John 5:1-5. John 15:1-8

‘Before Abraham was, I am’. Such were My words spoken in My incarnate life when challenged regarding My divinity, and such is the truth for all the sons and daughters of the Father’s love: And such is the reality experienced by all who receive the Father’s Word in faith and trust and absolute self-giving. It is written in the Scriptures ‘faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen’ (Hebrews 11:1).

But they are seen by those who have the eye of faith given by the Father to the faithful and the true of heart who respond to the Father’s word led and guided by Our Holy Spirit. All who are in Me are in the Father too for so the Father has appointed. I am the vine, you are the branches : I speak to every one of he Father’s beloved sons and daughters. I am the true vine and My Father is the vinedresser..…..every branch that bears fruit He prunes. As you remain in Me and I in you so will the Father’s will be done in you: it is to the glory of the Father that you should bear much fruit and then you will be My disciples’ (John 15)
