St. Stephen
Stephen cried out in a loud voice,, "Lord, lay not this sin to their charge "
Acts 7:60

Even so I prayed the Father to forgive those who betrayed , unjustly tried , mocked, scourged , nailed Me to the tree of shame And even so I pray in and through My world - the world the Father has given Me to love into salvation, wholeness and life with Him for ever .Is it not required, then, by every child of the Father who calls Me Lord and Master, to forgive those who offend or fall short in any way of that which is expected of him? Only as each forgives can each be himself forgiven. Besides and beyond the act of contrition is love and compassion. To give once is to grow considerably in heart and mind ; to forgive often and to care more about the happiness and well-being of the offender than for one's own hurt is to mature deeply and to bring the forgiving into the orbit of the Father's Nearer Presence., there to learn afresh the loving demands He makes of the totally committed. Above all, those who love their fellowmen without thought of gain , who sacrifice their lives and wills on the altar of love - love of their Heavenly Father and of their fellowmen, who identify with Me in My dying on the Cross, identifying with the costly act of redemption - all these countless children are received into the Father's Nearer Presence.. There, with the first witness to death of My cosmic triumph, these faithful, loving ones will rejoice with those they have loved into wholeness through My saving act and in the power of our Holy Spirit.
