Beheading of John the Baptist
Jeremiah 1:17-19, Mark 6:17-29

Regard the faithfulness of My servant John, exemplified by many down the ages. He did not count the cost but gave his liberty and life to witness to the truth as he perceived it; that witness is a cornerstone in the structure of the pattern of the good and faithful way in life and living. And through that faithful and courageous life and death the way was opened up for the Incarnate Word to reveal the Father's love and purpose for the one and for the many. And John revealed the way of suffering as a means of witnessing to truth, anticipating the saving and redemptive action of Incarnate Love, the Father's Son beloved and loving and the Incarnate Word.
